Is your Baby Room the strongest room in your setting?
Your preschool rooms are probably great.
The baby room is where the real opportunity lies - and where the biggest difference is still waiting to be made!
The baby room is possibly the most important room in a child’s educational journey.
The relationships built and the foundations laid set the tone for everything that follows - the development of language, emotional regulation, movement, learning readiness, and outcomes that last a lifetime.
And yet baby rooms are often where our newest staff start, where specialist training is lightest, and where practice is most inconsistent.
That’s the gap Oliiki was built to fill!
The evidence is clear:
7 in 10
parents are unaware that the first five years are the most important for healthy development
1 in 3
parents underestimate the importance of the period from conception to two, when brain development is at its fastest in life
1 in 4
parents don’t realise that what happens in the earliest days has a direct impact on their child’s life outcomes
Your Baby Room has the power to change all this!
“Having Oliiki has been the biggest impact in informing practice. I'm so happy I found you!
It was like a lightbulb moment for me!”
— Sam, Little Treacles Nursery
Oliiki gives your Baby Room a system for excellence.
The Oliiki Baby Brain Building Programme is a structured programme that helps settings embed research-informed practice in their baby rooms - building staff confidence, strengthening parent partnerships and creating environments where babies genuinely thrive.
It’s built around the Seven Foundations of Baby Brain Building - a practical framework that translates developmental science into everyday interactions, play and care routines.
When your team understands why everyday moments matter, everything in the Baby Room becomes more intentional.
Confident staff
Educators understand early development and know why what they do matters - not just what to do
Engaged parents
Parents become active partners in their child's development - informed, involved, and confident.
Thriving babies
A baby room where exploration, interaction, and responsive care happen by design, not by chance.
A setting that stands out
Create a baby room you're proud to show anyone - parents, Ofsted, or prospective staff.

Staff development that actually makes it into practice
Most nursery training gets forgotten by the following Tuesday. This doesn't - because it's not a one-off event. It's woven into your working day.
A full staff training programme on brain development in the first 1,000 days - designed to ignite curiosity, not just tick boxes and make it’s way into daily practice
Full access to the Oliiki app for all educators - so practitioners can find a relevant brain-building activity, understand the science behind it, connect it to their professional development in the moment, use it to support babies development, share the development findings with parents, every day, while never leaving the room!
Nurseries tell us they've never seen their staff so engaged with training
Tiny Moments, Big Impact - 30 in-depth lessons on turning everyday care routines into intentional brain-building moments: arrival, feeding, sleep, toileting, transitions, outdoor play, and more

Most programmes give you a welcome email and leave you to it. Oliiki is different. From the day you join, a weekly email guides your setting through every stage of the Oliiki Nursery Journey - telling you exactly what to focus on, which part of the programme to use, and what to do next.
And it doesn't stop after a few weeks. The implementation support runs for a full year - moving you through Getting Started, Getting Clear, Getting Consistent, Embedding Practice, and to Baby Room Excellence - so the approach has time to genuinely take root across your whole team.
Tiny actions, consistently taken, that compound into big impact that really lasts!

Oliiki in action: The Den Nursery Group
The Den is a growing group of nurseries with a long-standing commitment to brain development and neuroscience-informed practice. When they joined Oliiki, they already had a strong foundation - a bespoke curriculum, a passionate team, and a genuine belief that the baby room is where it all begins.
What Oliiki gave them was the scaffold.
Staff who had completed the training wanted to talk about it - bringing ideas they had thought of, initiating conversations about music and concentration, asking to lead sessions. A baby room lead began planning her own parent mornings off her own back, sustainably staffed, built entirely around the excitement the training had sparked.
When their Early Years Improvement Officer visited, she asked practitioners about their curriculum, the reasoning behind their activities, and how they adapted their approach for individual children. She was, in Louise's words, "overwhelmed and blown away."
"It's a bit of a no-brainer really. It raises the quality of what's happening within your nursery. It gives you that partnership with parents which is always difficult to get. You'd be silly not to." - Louise Monange, The Den Nursery Group
“I have never seen staff so enthralled with training. At the end of it they said 'Louise, we learnt so much.' They were excited. They wanted to talk about it. And now when I visit the nurseries, the under-twos staff are talking to me about the training and what they're seeing with the children - and taking it into practice. It's huge!”
— Louise Monange, Director of Nursery Operations, The Den Nursery Group
Where is your baby room right now?
Oliiki supports nurseries through five clear stages of development. Most nurseries start somewhere in the middle - wherever you are, there's a clear path forward.
-
You've decided that the baby room matters and that early brain development deserves focused attention. You're beginning to explore what quality practice really looks like in the first 1,000 days.
-
You and your team are building shared understanding of how babies develop and why everyday care routines matter. Language is becoming more intentional and observation more purposeful.
-
Brain-building practice is happening daily rather than occasionally. Staff are using shared approaches, routines feel calmer, and interactions are more consistent across the baby room.
-
High-quality practice is part of how your baby room runs. New staff are inducted into it, leaders observe with clarity, and improvement no longer depends on individuals.
-
Your baby room is a model of confident, evidence-informed practice. Staff can explain the why behind what they do, parents are engaged, and the baby room is a genuine strength of your setting.
The most committed nurseries may go on to be recognised as an Oliiki Centre of Excellence for Baby Brain Building - a growing network of settings modelling what excellent practice looks like in the first 1,000 days.
Ready to go further? Brilliant Baby Rooms.
Once the Baby Brain Building Programme is embedded in your setting, some leaders want to go deeper.
Brilliant Baby Rooms is a 7-month strategic leadership programme for nursery managers and baby room leads. Working in a small group directly with Clare, you move through six structured quests that build a complete baby room system - from emotional safety and adult-baby interactions to environment design, inclusion, and sustainable leadership.
It's the difference between knowing what good looks like and being able to lead it, every day, whether you're in the room or not.
“At the start I used words like 'busy, tiring and complicated' to describe my baby room. I now use the words 'calm and connected, with a real sense of team, trust and leadership.”
— Jessica, Nursery Manager, Brilliant Baby Rooms participant
Built by an educator, for educators.
Oliiki was created by Clare Stead - teacher, educational researcher, and the person most likely to be found talking about baby brains over a cup of tea. Clare built Oliiki because she saw nurseries full of people who cared deeply about babies, but without a joined-up system to translate that care into consistently excellent developmental practice.
Oliiki is that system!
“We use Oliiki not just to help our parents understand the brain science of the first 1,000 days, but also to help our staff development.”
— Julie Robinson - Eagley House Nursery
